This showcave, the name of which is "Skocjanske Jame" (currently incorrect above)was a very enjoyable trip. We opted to go on the original tour, although there is a new short additional tour that can also be visited. After waiting in the shade from the baking sun we were taken on a walk across the road and down the hill and into a large man made tunnel entrance. After listening to the introduction talk in at least 6 different languages and reminded that taking photos (even without flash) would seriously damage the cave??...the first few chambers were a pleasant walk along flat paths. Further on, the underground canyon was breathtakingly beautiful and certainly recommended as you get to walk along the edge half way up. The remnants of cut steps and old paths can still be seen lower down where flooding occurs and heading off into the ceiling. On the way out is the possibility to take a funicular back up, however we opted for a stroll back up the hill out of the doline via the waterfall in the near 38 degree heat though the views were worth it. A relaxing end to two weeks of non stop caving.
