'Fools paradise' is one of the most beautiful I have seen in the Dales.

We attempted both the big pitch and big rift routes, on the the big rift route we stopped at the thrutch (a 4 m tight slot with not footholds) knowing that I was in a fit state to get back up and by that point it was only me and Marcus needing to carry three tacklsacks. On the big pitch route (a 65 m shaft) we rigged off the back up natural off the pich head, found on in-situ hanger, one unusable spit, one spit in which you could just thread in a quarter of the way and a ok(ish) spit. Knowing that you have to do a pedulum across the shaft and then looking at the spits again, I juts thought my Life has to be worth a lot more that rigging of this rubbuish - I will come back one day after p-hangering has taken place,

In general the spits were not in a good condition, but definetely worth in to see the brilliant Fools paradise.
