Report by Stephen Cooper

Just in case anyone was wondering what stay behind cave is i shall now elaborate.

Stay behind is a world war 2 tunnel system that was hidden behind a second set of tunnels to hide it from the germans so that should Gibraltar be taken by the germans we would still be able to spy on them.

The "cave" starts at a random point in one of gibraltars 100+ miles of passageways (very impressive when you consider it probably has less than 80 of roadway) and quickly opens out into a cork floored main room with still working water tank and filtration systemat the back of this room there is a short passageway leading to the toilets (propper ones) and a bycicle powered battery charger for their radio (with leather belt to prevent them being heard.

At the end of this passageway is a crack leading onto the rockface which leads onto a wide ledge on the east side of the rock. If you look for the picture you can see me clinging to the wall because that 200+m drop looked scary. thats just about it:-)
