This cave has it all in spades. I couldn't stop grinning after tackling the challenges posed by this cave. When we reached the flowstone duck into Dow cave I had that feeling that all cavers seek- the feeling you get when you've achieved something quite special.
There were some times it was touch and go, not knowing whether to keep going, but we held onto the main route and pushed it through to the end. I'm pretty sure that if we'd lost our nerve and turned back then we would have been in the cave longer than 8 hours.
One of the most scary/favourite moments was when we were traversing over the narrows. There was a good deal of wedging in the rift with very little to hold onto.
"I think this must be up there in my favourite trips of all time"
I must agree with Ade here. Dowber gill passage is not a cave that I feel I have ticked 'off', I feel as though it has been ticked 'on' to my list of caves I want go back to for further frolics. I can't wait to have a go at doing it again, only at a higher level.
I agree with Gary's comments regarding the descriptions.
This cave deserves a
MEGA MEGA MEGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
