Like Manchester, this was considerably drier than last time, and we got much further in. We were limited by time, but if we hadn't been it would have been a more longer, exploratory trip.First we headed upstream, to see if we could find our newly bashed hole through to Manchester, but there were so many options and side passages that we stopped to concentrate on exploring the rest of the cave.
Downstream this turned into an absolutely huge stream cave. The flood debris alone was pretty impressive in it's own right. Huge tree stumps littered the journey through. When the water does come through, it is very forceful! They also served as a reminder that this was a very much active streamway The passageway was massive and it was a little like I expected from Ireland.
We made quick progress down to the large, and filthy looking sump. We knew there was still plenty of cave to explore, and after noting the passages that would have allowed us to continue we had to leave so turned round and clambered up an industrial chain through some muddy passage to Church Pot. This was easy to locate and the cobbled together rope/ladder/scaffolding exit was interesting to ascend!
