COW DAY

After a very faffy day where Kevin bought a tent and some new windscreen wipers for Lauren, we decided to drive out to the Dales and camp. Once in the Dales we tried to camp at the Hill Inn, but they were being facists who insisted it was just for Camping and Caravan Club members and didn't seem to want our money. Instead we went to the Station Inn who were happy to let us camp out back.

We ate and drank and tried to formulate a caving plan. Lots of caves were ruled out due to wet weather so whilst Kev talked to an old caver, me and Lauren (drunkenly) decided to a cow-themed days caving: Bull Pot, Calf Holes and Cow Pot. Keven agreed and we then (drunkenly) went to put the new tent up.

The next day started early when Kevin magically appeared with tea! A Bernies breakfast later and we started on our first cow:

BULL POT:
Lauren rigged and memorably there was a scary traverse. We went down as far as we could but water levels prevented us descending the last couple of pitches, plus Laurens rope wasn't long enough. We then stopped off in...

YORDAS:
... and had a potter about, deciding that our cow would be called Yordas, thus making the cave count. Whilst getting changed to drive to the next cave we got acosted by a group of elderly women who were intent on talking to us for ages whilst Kev was in just his pants. They asked us if we were climbers. Onwards to...

CALF HOLES
... here we decended the shaft with more water going down it than my first visit. We explored a bit in the bedding planes but conscious of water levels we turned back and I de-rigged.

Once changed we ummed and aahed about COW POT but by this point it was quite late and Easegill was a long-ish drive away so we called it a day and cancelled call-out.

Back in York I made Kevin and Lauren a commerative caving cow :)
