Possibly the wettest I've seen Sell Gill! When we first arrived at the cave, the wet entrance was looking rather severe, but passible and I suspect you could probably have got a fair way down. But even the dry entrance had a nice waterfall going down it. We arrived just after another group who kindly asked if we wanted to go first as they had a novice with them. We had been planning on getting Max to rig, but for... read more

After Liam did a cracking job of rigging, we had a nice little bimble to main chamber. I had been looking forward to going back for a while after working out the correct settings to use on my camera to photo the main chamber. My last attempt was rather underwhelming. But now with my camera back from repair and an extra light to illuminate the place, it only took two attempts for each photo (which is just as well given... read more

There’s nothing more satisfying than a successful exchange. Perhaps it was renewed desire to cave after the clubs mini covid outbreak but there was a lot of interest for this weeks day trip! 10 people in fact! Fortunately, one of those was Ade with his car so we could do an exchange. The plan involved Chris, Josh and Ade leading Becca, May and Jonathan down twilight down the lower streamway and then back up centre, and myself and Rosie leading... read more

The virus! Its spreading! I don’t know what I can do to stop it. I’m writing this account in hopes that it will be of use to other survivors…if there are any. The original plan for the weekend was a big NPC weekend away (considering my last report there is a trend here) But that all changed when the infection came, One pretty great graduation party led to a pretty not great Omicron outbreak in the club. Survivors where limited.... read more

It was a trip of many firsts. The first time I caved with Chris, the first time I caved in my brand-new gear and the first time I caved to derig. The day was full of anticipation as we met in stores, however to our surprise at 8am, stores were closed. I was informed from someone working behind the desk in the sports hall that they could not give the keys, as they were closed till 9am. I could... read more

The plan for the day was to spend the night at the NPC, doing large pot on the 30th then jingling on the 31st before coming back down to York for Ambers New Year’s Eve party. Things started going wrong a week before the trip when my mum kindly informed me that I had a dentist appointment on the 30th that I completely forgot about. Well then. I called them to rebook but I only managed to get it moved... read more

Our thwarted escapade in Large Pot began for me at quarter to seven on a dismal morning in Surrey. As I awoke I realised that this was actually later than I would normally get up for a day trip in York – though, admittedly, this wasn’t a day trip. We were going to have a late trip in Large Pot, bed down in the NPC, and have a crack at Jingling the next morning. I had just enough time to eat... read more

The plan for this trip really took shape while celebrating a Christmas meal at the pub when Chris asked if I was still up for caving- er of course. Chris suggested Long Kin East, a great sounding cave but in my least favourite location- the allotments. Looking at the favourable weather it was decided I should suck it up and deal with the hour walk. I managed to recruit a Henry and even Jonathan who we were picking up from... read more
