In 1971 cave diver Mike Wooding made a solo trip into the Far Waters of Gaping Gill and pushed his way through a particularly nasty duck to discover Hallucination Aven. On returning to the bottom of Bar Pot he found the ladder had been pulled up, so frustrated he free climbed his way out. It's been a while since I've done a nice long proper caving trip so was looking forward to this. I've also been wanting to do the Whitsun Series for ages. Walking up through the nature trail, wood anemones were out, bluebells were just coming into bloom and ramsons perfumed the air with its garlicky whiff. On Monday morning I woke up feeling extremely refreshed but also slightly bemused…..I had dreamt about a caving trip in vast detail. It wasn't just me on this trip - I just don't know how to add non-members on the new website! Sandy was there too. In the week before the trip, there was talk of caving, but the the forecast didn't look great and there weren't many ideas keenly put forward.
