Excellent trip into Dan-Yr-Ogof, fully fun, fully cold, Dan almost made it a quick trip by loosing his welly in the first lake, eventually finding it we carried on, did the full round trip with a quick detour for photography in Flabbergasm Oxbow.

A really really excellent cave; the reason I started caving. Good fun in the lakes and canal (including the infamous lost welly), pretty easy moving about in the passages, but the highlight for me was the formations. Cloud Chamber was stunning, incredible collections of pure white straws. The Grand Canyon Streamway was also impressive, especially when viewed from Flabbergasm Oxbow.

As I think Andy H said... "Just the right amount of scary" - I agree! I'm steadily facing my fear of traverses.. after going to OFD3 a couple of years ago and finding it fine, I was ready to give Marble Showers a go. I definitely found the trip scarier than going to OFD3... The Midnight traverses were certainly exposed, and quite technical, but as long as you take it steady and think about where your feet are going it's... read more

After the usual drive and pratting about in Bernie's and Inglesport (Rachel forgot her jammers, so bought some, and Will wanted some elbow pads) we parked up on the road near Cold Cotes. There's a handy lay-by next to the junction indicated in the description. The change was brisk, with an cold wind, but fortunately it was dry. Armed with a compass, GPS, and the Lat/Long of the entrance we started the ~25 minute walk up the hill. Finding the... read more

A fairly fafftastic but eventually quite fun, leisurely trip to a short and rarely visited cave. The faff began when, having got to the parking layby specified on the permit, I remembered that we'd been given info that there was space for a couple of cars at Tip Wood, and I hadn't arranged with Walmslers at which of the two options we were going to meet. Wem and I had got there early so enjoyed the lovely sunshine and views... read more

So this was my first trip into Easegill amazingly! What a great trip! Over breakfast in Inglesport both teams met up and it was decided who would do each entrance, where we'd all meet up and how long we could be bothered to wait for each other underground before we'd head back out the way we came. After we headed to Bull Pot Farm to get changed, admittedly without knowing for sure that Walmslers would be joining us! As we pulled... read more

Ruminations in Turtle Crawl To cave, or not to cave – that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and narrows of outrageous potholes Or to take up bowls on a Sunday afternoon And with a pot of tea, forget about it. To crawl, to thrutch – No more; and with a lovely lie-in we end The kneeache, and the thousand natural shocks That shins are heir to. Surely, a consummation Devoutly to be wish'd? To nap – to snooze. To snooze... read more

Wet wet wet. It had been reasonably dry lately so it had been suggested that the water levels would be low enough for Ibbeth Peril. Not so! Steven tried to get to the entrance and had to swim to get close so we decided to abort the mission. It was also getting too late in the day to change plans and still get back to the bunk barn in time for the xmas meal. Bums. Looking at pictures of the... read more
