a wicked trip though was just a tad damp to get anywhere near the main streamway. boo. yet all was not lost as we made a point of seeing every possible formation etc on the way out. lots of exciting free climbs, scrotty crawls and funky pretty stuff ensued -fun for all the family. yet the day was truly enhanced by the eighth wonder of the world: the swcc hut. an amazing place, a true oasis of warmth and happiness as you trudge done the sodden hillside. Possibly the nicest change in the world ever (has a roof, hot shower -yes hot shower!- and separate girlie change so no worrying about protecting modesty in front of strange bearded men or passing cars). It could be argued that such pleasantness and personal hygiene undermines the very ethos of caving, especially welsh caving, but i'm sure such 'principles' will rapidly disappear after a change in the SWCC hut. A very impressive cave, well worth doing even if (godforbid) the hut is closed.
