Report by Catherine Moody

This was another trip intended for route finding. I’d done Lancaster-Wretched Rabbit once, over a year ago, and whilst I knew the route well on paper, I wanted to get a few bits of it clearer in my head, in particular the escape route out of Wretched Rabbit. I also quite fancied doing Cow Pot so thought what the hell, lets do Cow to WR for a bit of variety!

Armed with many descriptions we set off in high spirits. The crazy traverse to the main pitch-head was a bit scary but the descent was so worth it. Judging by the exclamations, I think the others who had never been to Fall Pot before were seriously amazed! Some serious stomping followed, through all the massive caverns to Stop Pot, where we bumped into Gary’s team. Whilst they headed out of WR, we had a pit stop then went down to check out the main drain. We’d considered a detour to Easter Grotto, but although the water levels weren’t unusually high, none of us could really be bothered getting that wet so decided to leave it for another day. Having given the other team a headstart, I led the way out, finding the way without too much trouble, and remembering a surprising amount of the route on the way. A simple, but nevertheless very enjoyable trip.
