This trip was my first of three trips on our NPC weekend, and was my first time caving on the Friday of a weekend away! We set off with spirits high at 9am, stopped for a quick breakfast in Skipton, dropped our rucksacks at the NPC, and began the drive up to Masongill. We chose to do the Gully Route to the Main Chamber and back. This meant it was short enough for us to get back to the hut... read more

Originally planned as a trip to Nick Pot, but an uncertain forecast and need to pack the car a few days before lead to a change to Notts Pot. James suggested trying Adamson’s route, and having already done a Centre/Twilight exchange this seemed like fun. Due to Friday cave associated faff, and the fact that a full Notts trip is not the shortest trip in the world, I thought a 7:30am departure from York would be justified. The day started with... read more

A few weeks ago I decided that this November NPC would be my first ever Friday cave, I finally decided to skip my important seminars for being cold, wet, and underground. Originally the plan was to go to Nick Pot, we had been planning this trip for weeks (Me, Will, Abbie, and Noula) however the weather had been flip flopping between raining and dry and Noula could no longer make it, so plans changed. It was Notts time. We were... read more

As the NPC weekend approached, the stress of organising was dulled by two things: an evening of crashing at Viki and Rosie’s to play Mario Kart, and the promise of going Friday caving with Asher and Will! The original plan was for the three of us (plus Nuala) to head to Nick Pot, alas the weather was not on our side and so we agreed on a plan B - Notts Pot, Adamson’s Route. In the days before the weekend we... read more

It all started with a message from Flynn in the group chat the previous Tuesday, asking for interest in a trip on Sunday. After a little bit of deliberation we settled on Rift Pot, a suitable choice for the day's forecast. Rigging both routes down seemed like a fun idea, the YRC and Bob Hole route. A mini-exchange. Some rope packing the day before, and a 9am start began the day. Meeting Josh at Inglesport, he’d informed me of his keen... read more

The valley entrance high traverse was something that I had been thinking about for quite a while. A video from Inglesport published a few months ago of this route in wet conditions had sparked interest from a few people about it. A very wet Craven weekend seemed like the perfect opportunity to do it. Information on the route is very hard to come by, however I did manage to find a topo, which suggested that 125m of rope and 31... read more

let me begin by saying that valley entrance is now my favourite cave, and the roof traverse is quite possibly my favourite thing ever. the day began (for me) at 8am, against my will, staring at the bunk above me and regretting the late night before - talks of cave began as soon as i got down the stairs and soon when everyone was eating breakfast we decided on doing what had been loosely planned the day before - valley entrance... read more
