This trip was ace, just what I needed! We got in the cave at like half 4, the entrance practically right next to the car. The farmer let us park on his land for free :-) The cave is quite tight, and goes down in a tightish crawl/boulder choke, but there's no real wayfinding issues. A superb and mega efficient trip. We split into two teams, the first of seven making a halk hour head start on the second team of six. Quick progress was made around the cave, with absolutely no problems for anyone getting up any of the climbs. Errr...maybe there were a few navigational issues but we did get to see lots of bits of the system! :) A good, fun stomp around the round trip (and to various digs and dead ends...). The Giant's Windpipe was quite squalid but short enough to be quite good fun! I might do a quick sketch of the route for the future. Not that I can draw, mind, so I doubt it will be of much help!! Our freshers were just so competent and keen that we decided, on purpose of course..., to see as much of the cave as possible! Such a good trip and cave though, really do enjoy it! Lots of variety and lots of fun.

Ok, here it goes... After a bit of a rope measuring sess, Chuck, Si and I went over to Asda for free coffee and cake. A rather demanding, although short trip. Perhaps not one to leave till the last day when we were already quite knackered! Simple entrance pitch led to a 45 degree rift down to a tight right angle bend to the top of the second pitch. After much consideration about the best route, Matt and I managed to squirm down to the blind pot just before the pitch only to discover that the P hanger was about 2m above us. A nasty cave! Make sure you go down the right one, as several peahangered holes are in the immediate vicinity. Prods in the small one against a rock face. The entrance pitch land immediately into a quickly descending tight rift with lots of sharp bits. The second pitch is quickly reached which is difficult to rig, as the peahangers are situated near the roof, above the shallow pit, and requires some interesting manouevers to get up... read more

Really impressive entrance pitch, nicly broken into several re-belays. Its nice to be able to see light almost all the way to the bottom. Pretty streight forward route finding with some rather summy lakes to wade through and a few nasty crawls. A good mixture of stuff though and, again some stunning formations before the main streamway. An exceptional trip with a spectacular entrance pitch, reminicent of Deaths head, in the Dales, but with more added interest of ledges and several rebelays all the way to the bottom. From the bottom, a slope leads down an you need to cross the canal. This was no deeper than waist height, however I suspect that if it were not for the exceptionally dry weather we'd had, this would be more like what the guidebooks say (swimmy!). ... read more

A stunning system with many entrances. A rather inconspicuous rift entrance, leads to a steel gate into the main show cave. It was closed when we were there but it'd be great to see it lit up. After the end of the show cave, a short wade through the lake leads into the rest of the cave. Quite easy going and not really any route finding problems. Excellent trip, nothing too difficult but a good length with some excellent formations and spectacular large chambers. Was nice to get all the way to the end for completion, and the way out via the deep canal (neck height at times) made for a much more exciting exit. Neofleece highly recommended. Wetsuit would be too warm.

Excellent freshers trip, and relatively faff-free considering the number of people (in fact the majority of faff coming from a certain experienced member lol!). We divided into 5-6 teams and staggered ourselves by 5 minutes each, which avoided the problems of people backing up out of long churn. Nobody got stuck in the cheese press, and nobody needed carrying out, so pretty successful. Most people were even persuaded to do Wilsons Cave afterwards (hence the grade II... read more

TEAM LIDL'S FIRST ADVENTURE!!!!! Loads of fun, even got to do "toilet cave" (Andy V, figured out which one it was yet?) and the wetsuits rocked in all that water!! EDIT: Turns out that "Toilet Cave" was infact Borrin's Moor... but we didn't go the right way (in and out) we just went iiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnn...

Quite a varied and interesting cave and a fairly efficient trip. Did get a bit tired tho. Oh and there was a mean man who had pink ropes and was wearing boxers over his wetsuit like some kind of superhero. Trip complete with late night BBQ mmmmmm

High faff due to it being organised whilst slightly drunk, followed by late getting up, unexpected rainfall, everyone starving, forgetting to turn the hob off, forgetting gear, the trip taking much longer than expected, and sleepiness on the drive home! Other than that, twas quite fun. A very interesting cave :) Plus bats!

I really enjoyed this trip. I was impressed by 'the ninety' route. The pitches were spectacular and far longer than I imagined. I would love to do the exchange with the intestines. For the record- It had been raining loads on the day before, on the drive over and as we were going down the cave, yet the ninety was bone dry.

Pretty PRETTY PRETTY pretty PRETTY pretty! this is a very pretty cave! pretty things everywhere! the angels wing and the really wiggly curtain were the best. oh and the "lost contact lens mountain" :) Quite a short trip (unless you spend hours taking photos) and easy, mostly strolling with occasional squeezing/avoiding standing on pretty things. We have "exceptional conservatinoal skills" apparently :) and so will easily get this and hopefully others again. nice guides too. AND we had icecream on the way... read more

A superb trip. And a REALLY hot day. Locating where to park was difficult, as the location on the maps is misleading. Park in an obvious lay-by, in the village at the top of the hill, next to an apple tree orchard, and opposite farm houses. The entrance is down to the right, and is signposted! I really enjoyed this cave, much fun was had! Lots and lots of faff though although that did provide lots of fun! We all bought wetsuits from Lidl in Sheffield for £25, moseyed around until we found a cafe that did breakfast, and then found one which did a vegan breakfast! AMAZINGLY tasty. This was a pretty cool one! Was really odd looking, and the hand picked bits were quite something! Was fun to rig too, lots of choices of which way to go! Usually I hate crawling, but I actually secretly enjoyed it in this one!! Note: before asking random Geordies/Yorkshiremen to borrow their cunningly hidden spanner, check that you can't just turn the biggest bolts ever known to man with your hands! A nice quick trip down bar. Took Ally down, and he kindly derigged. Lots of water in the main chamber, and everything else was unsuprisingly dripping wet, considering the volume of water soaking its way through at the moment There was a large turd under a rock at the entrance. Nice!
